John Jay Hoffman, aged 49, of Wyoming, entered unexpectedly into eternal life on Monday, May 26, 2008. He is lovingly cherished by his wife of 23 years, Rose; daughter, Kaitlyn; and son, Jack.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Lindsey in 1986; brother, Orville Jr.; mom and dad, Orville and Amy Hoffman; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nancy and Joey Miller. John is also survived by his sister, Pam (Mike) Breazeale; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many special friends.
John grew up in Livonia and graduated from Livonia Stevenson High School in 1976. He was employed by Trailer Equipment Inc. for 21 years. He started working as a salesman and was recently named Vice President of Sales, an accomplishment he was proud of achieving.
John's greatest love was being with family and growing more in love over the years with his wife, Rose. He was so happy watching Kaitlyn and Jack play sports. He was a passionate sportsman including hunting, fishing, big game, mountain biking, snowmobiling, and ice fishing. He was the initiator and organizer of many fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling trips to Canada and Northern Michigan, including Manitou Island. John's larger than life passion of all activities spread to everyone who knew him. He would engage his family and friends in his enthusiasm for all endeavors. His even temper and gentle nature was calming to all who were around him. His love for life was truly contagious and those touched by it will be blessed forever.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, May 30th, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4101 Clyde Park S.W., Wyoming with Fr. Loc Trinh presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.

I know I am a bit late with any words that I might have but I just happened to be browsing and saw that John had passed away. I knew John from my years at Capacity of Texas… what a great guy! It broke my heart to see this… my prayers go out to his family.

“I’ll join you on the Big Hunt before too long “.
John will be dearly missed by so many, it is very apparent how he touched so many people’s lives. He was a VERY upstanding man to his family and friends and one heck of a Trailer Salesman. I pray for god to guide all of the people that admired and loved him for the days to come.
I was shocked to hear about the passing of John. I always admired his passion for the outdoors and his enjoyment of all lives activities, both with family and friends. My family will pray for his family and all those close to him.
Having just returned from vacation I was shocked to hear about John. My family will lift John’s family up in our thoughts and prayers. I am very saddened by this tragic loss. Jack Raymond
John was a good man. I admired his strength of character, work and business ethic, and his sense of humor. He loved the great outdoors and his family and circle of friends. He was a good salesman and I enjoyed working with him for the last eleven years and will remember him with fondness. I will miss him a lot. I pray for God to watch over Rose, Kaitlyn, and Jack and give them strength. Theirs is a good strong family unit. God Bless.
We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers during this tough time.
